James Hurst, a Toronto-based television writer, creator, and showrunner, is the CEO and founder of Screenright, an online platform offering comprehensive screenwriting and TV writing courses

As a writer, James has nearly 50 produced episodes under his best, contributing to award-winning series such as Degrassi: The Next Generation, Being Erica, Flashpoint, Wynonna Earp and Hardy Boys, while creative producing or showrunning hundreds more.

As a 2010 Peabody Award winner, James was part of the exceptional team behind the acclaimed TV series Degrassi, where their outstanding storytelling and dedication to addressing social issues earned recognition. James is a five-time nominee and two-time winner at the Canadian Screenwriting Awards.
